9.3 Superb

The Kanchenjunga Trek is a popular and challenging trekking route in the eastern part of Nepal, which takes you to the base camp of the third highest mountain in the world, Mount Kanchenjunga. The trek takes around 20-25 days to complete and is known for its remote and off-the-beaten-path trails that offer a unique cultural and natural experience. The trek starts from Suketar or Taplejung, which can be reached by a flight from Kathmandu. The trail takes you through beautiful forests, remote villages, and high altitude landscapes, and passes through the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area, which is home to many rare and endangered species of flora and fauna. The trek is considered to be strenuous and challenging, with long and steep ascents and descents, and requires a high level of physical fitness and trekking experience. Trekkers need to obtain two permits to do this trek - the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area Permit (KCAP) and the Restricted Area Permit (RAP) which cost around $20 and $10 per person per week respectively. The best time to do the Kanchenjunga Trek is during the spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November) seasons, when the weather is clear and dry. The trek provides basic tea house accommodation along the way, but camping is required in some parts of the trek.
