03 Island Peak Expedition
Summit the iconic Island Peak at 6,189 m, weaving high-altitude trekking with technical climbing for the ultimate Himalayan adventure.
From the moment your Twin Otter descends onto Lukla’s mountain shelf (2,860 m / 9,383 ft), you know this trip will test and inspire you. Over 16 days, you’ll move from lush rhododendron forests and roaring rivers to the stark, glacial high country, all the way to Island Peak’s summit at 6,189 m (20,305 ft).
Two full acclimatization days in Namche Bazaar (3,440 m / 11,286 ft) and Dingboche (4,410 m / 14,468 ft) help your body adjust. You’ll trek through Sherpa villages, cross ice-blue streams, and skirt the Imja Glacier before settling into Chhukung (4,738 m / 15,547 ft), the last stop before high camps.
Summit day begins before dawn, headlamps cutting through the predawn cold as you climb fixed ropes and snow ramps to High Camp (5,550 m / 18,209 ft). Standing atop Island Peak, you’ll enjoy a 360° panorama of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam. Expert Sherpa guides manage logistics and safety, while evening gatherings in family-run teahouses offer warm dal bhat and stories that last long after the climb.
