Conquer Renjo La, Cho La, and Kongma La in an 18-day Himalayan circuit for the ultimate Everest-region adventure.
Set off from Lukla’s high-altitude runway (2,860 m / 9,383 ft) and embark on an 18-day loop that pushes you over three of the Khumbu’s highest passes: Renjo La – 5,360 m / 17,585 ft; Cho La – 5,420 m / 17,782 ft; and Kongma La – 5,535 m / 18,159 ft
This challenge links the serene Gokyo Valley with the legendary Everest Base Camp trail, delivering a true expedition through Nepal’s most dramatic landscapes.
After building strength with full acclimatization days in Namche Bazaar (3,440 m / 11,286 ft) and Dingboche (4,410 m / 14,468 ft), you’ll navigate the emerald Gokyo Lakes before tackling Renjo La Pass. From its summit ridge, Everest, Makalu, and Cho Oyu tower across the horizon.
In the high glacial arena, Cho La Pass challenges you with icy crossings and fixed-rope sections as you descend into Chhukung Valley and then press on to the bustling mountaineering hub at Everest Base Camp (5,364 m / 17,598 ft).
The final leg carries you over Kongma La Pass, where wind-sculpted seracs and moraine fields reward your effort with sweeping panoramas. From Lobuche, you retrace lower-altitude trails back to Lukla, celebrating in teahouses that have witnessed generations of Sherpa climbers.
Throughout the trek, seasoned Sherpa guides handle permits, safety protocols, and eco-friendly practices. Evenings in family-run lodges offer steaming dal bhat, cozy bunks, and the shared sense of achievement that turns this challenge into a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
